Less is more

The other day I felt my bike was kinda heavy so I started a clean up all around it. I truly believe on that  phrase “less is more” so I got rid of clothing, sandals, papers, and any other unnecessary thing. To my surprise, I found I had a bookshelf on my back rack! This gave me chills and reminded me how important is to be more mentally prepared than physically when it comes to endurance.

A way I prepare, motivate, and unstress myself when digital media is too much is by reading wanderlust and positive thinking books.

To be honest I haven’t read that much but I can recommend a few that have change my soul and mind.

The Last Lecture by Randy Paush

“The brick walls are there for a reason. The brick walls are not there to keep us out. The brick walls are there to give us a chance to show how badly we want something. Because the brick walls are there to stop the people who don’t want it badly enough. They’re there to stop the other people.”

The Alchemist by Paulo Coehlo

“We are travelers on a cosmic journey,stardust,swirling and dancing in the eddies and whirlpools of infinity. Life is eternal. We have stopped for a moment to encounter each other, to meet, to love, to share.This is a precious moment. It is a little parenthesis in eternity.”

“I don’t live in either my past or my future. I’m interested only in the present. If you can concentrate always on the present, you’ll be a happy man. Life will be a party for you, a grand festival, because life is the moment we’re living now.”

11 minutes by Paulo Coehlo

“Everything tells me that I am about to make a wrong decision, but making mistakes is just part of life. What does the world want of me? Does it want me to take no risks, to go back to where I came from because I didn’t have the courage to say “yes” to life?”

Memoirs by Pablo Neruda

love/hate relationship with this book.

Sonnet 18 by Shakespeare

“Shall I compare thee to a summer’s day?
Thou art more lovely and more temperate:
Rough winds do shake the darling buds of May,
And summer’s lease hath all too short a date;
Sometime too hot the eye of heaven shines,
And often is his gold complexion dimm’d;
And every fair from fair sometime declines,
By chance or nature’s changing course untrimm’d;
But thy eternal summer shall not fade,
Nor lose possession of that fair thou ow’st;
Nor shall death brag thou wander’st in his shade,
When in eternal lines to time thou grow’st:
So long as men can breathe or eyes can see,
So long lives this, and this gives life to thee.”

As to date, Im still cycling and hopping to every other Mexican state with those books on my rack..is difficult to leave them, but I guess I need to learn how to say goodbye.

What book can you recommend me? Better yet what quote gets you on?

Viva Mexico!

Short quick stop in Tequila, Jalisco to celebrate Mexico’s Independence Day.

things to do at this colonial town:

Get lost in the streets.

Visit the mercados, where you can find great tasty and cheap food. For example, sopes and tacos dorados! Don’t forget spicy salsas!

They’re a bunch of tequila house companies around the place. The one I visited was Orendain, which I recommend to go and explore.

Though Jose Cuervo is a top one!

A tour to visit this tequila houses are around $200 pesos but with a little of confidence and work you can do it for $100..

So yes, after being a couple of months in Baja California, Baja Sur, Sinaloa, and Nayarit…Jalisco turns to be awesomely cheap!

You can run a day with less than $150-200 pesos and that includes; sopes , beer, accomodation, and of course…tequila!

Pack your bag and fly!

I had to be asap in Tequila, Jalisco for Mexico’s Independence Day so the best option to arrive on time was to hitchhike.

The result, 50km cycle and 3 different hitchhikes.

Mexico is safe. Cycle all the way or ask for a ride or two!

Tip: Grab a big cardboard and write with black letters the destination you want to go to.

Wave a lot to drivers and keep a good smile in your face but above all be patient and positive about it!

There is no tricky formula for this but just like life…strong desire and energy will get you everything you want!

positive plus positive equals positive.

Go for it!
